Bratislava and winter sports: Where to ski?

Bratislava is located at the foot of the Little Carpathians. There are a few ski slopes near Bratislava, but these are not suitable for demanding downhillers and easily fill up, especially at weekends and during Bratislava's school holidays. However, the surrounding forests offer great opportunities for cross-country skiing.

Where to go skiing from Bratislava?

Given the limited skiing opportunities, many people from Bratislava prefer to ski in neighboring Austria. The nearest Alpine ski resort, Semmering, can be reached by car in about 1,5 hours from Bratislava and offers excellent skiing conditions and good value for money.

As for Slovak ski resorts, most of them are at least as far from Bratislava (1,5 hours) as the Austrian ones. Popular resorts are located in various Slovak mountain areas. For example, the High Tatras (Vysoke Tatry) are very popular, located in the north-eastern part of central Slovakia (see also information on the page Hotels near Slovak ski resorts) and are accessible by car or train.

Below you will find a list of ski resorts where you can enjoy skiing and other winter fun.
