Tourist stays in Slovakia 1.4 a day in average

(BratislavaGuide.com) - The whole-year average of the length of foreigner's stay in Slovakia is just 1.2 to 1.4 a day, said the vice chairman of the parliament Viliam Veteska.

' Increasing the average to four days will be enough, but a lot of steps is needed to do, and the income from the tourism will increase four times,' said Veteska, who promotes inclusion of several institutions under one ministry of tourism.
In Slovakia, according to him, touristic activities brought to state budget 1.2 miliard crowns in 2005 while quotient on GDP reached 2.6 per cent. 'In surrounding countries such as Austria, Poland and Czech Republic it is more than 12 per cent,' mentioned Veteska.
According to Veteska it is this deficit which creates the space for future rising of income to state budget, which the future ministry should arrange. Except of that it would cooperate with departments of finance, ecomnomy, transport, construction and regional develpoment and ministry of environment because of going through lacks in legislative and flaws.
